CASUAL LISTENING: Radiohead – The King Of Limbs: Live From The Basement

Radiohead’s highly anticipated 2011 release The King Of Limbs is quite anticlimactic after epics such as OK Computer and In Rainbows. The alubm doesn’t capture Radiohead’s distinct raw energy. Just a mere eight tracks over 37 minutes, the listener aches for more after closer “Separator” clocks in its final seconds.

As usual, our UK friends came up with a smart solution. The band recorded TKOL tracks plus two extras live in a studio. Dubbed Live From The Basement, these fresh takes breath new life to the once flat songs. Band members feed off each other’s fierce guitar riffs in “Morning Mr. Magpie.” “Little By Little” transforms from a melancholy shuffle to a fun auxiliary percussion-driven groove. What’s more, Live From The Basement, with the help of new tracks “The Daily Mail” and “Staircase,” is a full ten tracks and 48 minutes. Phew.

Here’s Live From The Basement in its entirety.
